Bite Splint
Your bite splint (night guard) is designed to help protect your teeth from the effects of grinding and clenching while you sleep.
To help you get the most out of your appliance, we've put together some handy tips and information below.
Instructions
What to expect
When a bite splint is first fitted, there may be a slight plastic taste. This should disappear in a day or two
You may notice extra saliva production but this soon returns to normal.
Wear Time
Wear it at night exactly as instructed – in most cases every night is recommended.
Cleaning
Clean with a soft toothbrush, soap and cool (never hot) water.
Soaking in Caldent® or Polident Retainer & Mouthguard® once a week is a great way to keep your appliance clean.
Storage
When you are not wearing the bite splint, keep it in the plastic case or soaking.
Be especially careful to keep it away from pets who may want to chew it.
Broken or lost
Please contact us as soon as possible if your splint is lost, broken, cracked or no longer fitting.
With normal wear and care, your splint can last years. If it wears down quickly, it may be a sign of heavy grinding and a stronger appliance may be needed.

Important Tips
Replacement fees apply for lost, worn-out, or accidentally damaged bite splints
Please be aware that there is a small risk of a change in bite and relative tooth positions such as the development of an open bite – please monitor this as advised by your dentist.
